Size Guide

Every Stitches on Main piece is handmade, and fit can vary a little by style, fabric stretch, and personal preference. Use this guide as a starting point, then compare your child’s or your own measurements with the product style you are ordering. If you are between sizes or prefer extra growing room, sizing up is usually the safest choice.

How to measure

  • Height: Measure from the top of the head to the floor while standing straight.
  • Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of the chest or bust.
  • Waist: Measure around the natural waist, keeping the tape comfortable and not tight.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of the hips.
  • Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam to the ankle or desired pant length.
  • Trunk: For rompers and one-piece swim, measure from the shoulder, through the legs, and back up to the same shoulder.

Fit by style

  • Dresses, tops, and peplums: Check height, chest, and waist. Choose the size closest to chest and height, or size up for longer wear.
  • Rompers and one-piece swim: Check height, trunk, chest, waist, and hips. Trunk length matters most for comfort.
  • Bikers, leggings, bummies, shorts, and pants: Check waist, hips, and inseam. Choose based on waist and hips first.
  • Adult tops, hoodies, and tees: Check bust/chest, waist, and hips. Choose based on the fullest measurement.
  • Adult bottoms and bikers: Check waist, hips, and inseam. If between sizes, choose based on hip measurement for fitted styles.

Quick size notes

  • Babies and toddlers: If your little one is between age ranges, choose the size that matches current height and torso/waist best.
  • Kids: For play clothes and park days, a little extra room can help pieces last longer.
  • Swim and fitted styles: These should feel secure but comfortable. Check trunk, waist, and hips carefully.
  • Made-to-order and drop items: Please review size and style options before checkout because limited drops may not restock.
